Once again, the Aegean Rally offers sailing enthusiasts a unique opportunity to participate in the oldest offshore sailing race in Greece, organized by the Hellenic Offshore Racing Club (HORC). Over a 61 year history, the Rally has inspired hundreds of sailors to explore islands and landmarks they might never have visited had the race not included them. It has also offered them unforgettable experiences in the heart of the meltemi wind and the chance to form lifelong bonds with fellow sailors as they share the sun, salt, and emotions of the race.
This year’s route is designed to start from Faliro, symbolically in front of the historic battleship Averof, and head south toward Kythnos. Leaving the rocky islets of Myrmigia to port, they will finish the leg in Finikas, Syros. There ONEX will welcome crews with a sailing festival, together with the Nautical Club of Syros and the Municipality of Ermoupolis, giving local children and young summer visitors the opportunity to get in touch with the sport of sailing. From Finikas, the fleet will head east across the Ikario Sea, rounding Patmos to port before completing the second leg in Leipsoi, where a local regatta titled Mercedes Cup will also take place. Following the first three races, the crews will sail west again, once more leaving Patmos to port, and finish back in Finikas, Syros. After approximately 350 nautical miles, the race will conclude with the final awards ceremony, which - as in recent years - will take place at the Aegean Naval Command.
For its 62nd edition, the Aegean Rally’s Grand Sponsor will be ONEX Shipyards, the shipbuilding and repair company operating the Syros and Elefsina shipyards. ONEX stands at the forefront of Greece’s technological development, supporting both commercial shipping and the Hellenic Navy, which co-organizes the Aegean Rally.
Event sponsors include Mercedes-Benz, which is partnering with the race for a third time -an expression of trust in the event, reinforcing its visibility and helping build a culture of mutual support and long-term collaboration. Also supporting the event is D. KORONAKIS S.A., a long-time sponsor of HORC’s activities.
G4S Telemax will be a key technical partner, providing vital services for the live broadcasting of the race, while throughout the event, participants will refresh themselves with NISSOS beer, proudly brewed on the island of Tinos.
